PEOPLE in Limerick are invited to come and see the Mayfly over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

The Mayfly in question isn’t the delicate insect beloved by anglers but an eco showboat that has been travelling the waterways of Ireland using renewable energy.

The vessel will be open to the public during Limerick Riverfest when it will be moored at Custom House Quay in the city centre.

At the Hunt Museum on Saturday April 29, the ship’s crew will be on hand for some fun and facts, including learning about the creatures and plants of the waterways, talks on creative crafts with artists Chelsea Canavan and Deirdre Power, and Korean methods of urban farming with Kevin Wallace.

The Mayfly will be welcoming visitors for the various events from 11.30am until 5pm this Saturday, April 29.
