Costly loss for under-20 hurlers

Adam English who was injured in last night's loss to Tipperary

ADAM English suffered an injury in Limerick’s surprise 1-15 to 0-16 loss to Tipperary in the Munster Under-20 Hurling Championship at Semple Stadium, Thurles last night.

English, along with teammate Shane O’Brien, are both members of John Kiely’s extended county senior squad.

The Doon star limped-off just before half-time at which stage out-of-sorts Limerick trailed 1-9 to 0-2. He was replaced by Newcastle West’s Con Hayes

It’s anticipated that English will miss the must-win concluding round-robin outing with unbeaten Cork at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Friday next (7.30pm).

Limerick recovered in the closing-half but their brave challenge just came up short. Top scorer for the visitors was Patrick O’Donovan of Effin while substitute Oisín O’Farrell of Askeaton impressed with a couple of neat points.
