TWO potential sites have been identified by Limerick City and County Council for a new public library in the Castletroy area.
According to local Labour Party councillor Elena Secas, the sites are already in council ownership and in the vicinity of both primary and secondary schools.
“Castletroy is in dire need of a modern public library capable of delivering the Government National Library programmes,” she said.
“The next stage of the process will be to submit an application to the Department of the Environment and Local Government for approval in principle for a new library.
“Approval for capital funding will also be required from the Department to fund the project, which the council maintains will require significant capital and revenue resources,” Cllr Secas added.
