A STUDY of the physical and mental behaviour of a pregnant woman has won a major national award for two Limerick secondary school students.
Lucy Kate Ryan and Jane Madden from Gaelcolaiste Luimnรญ took the top prize in the Irish language category at theย PExpo โ23 event at Dublin City University (DCU) for their project, โAg fiosrรบ iompraรญocht fhisiciรบil agus mheabhrach mnรก torrachโ.
PExpo, Developed in association with the Physical Education Association of Ireland, PExpo aims to promote a better understanding of PE, sport, fitness and health among second level school students.
For the exhibition, based loosely on the Young Scientists format, students are invited to submit projects underย one of nine headings. These include the power of sport, technology in sport, well-being, components of fitness, nutrition, games development, psychology, and two categories linked to the physical education curriculum for the Leaving Certificate.
Prizes are divided into two age groups – junior for up to third year and senior for fourth year and higher.
As well as the Physical Education Association of Ireland and โDare to Believeโ other supporters of PExpo โ23 include Sport Ireland, Dublin City Sport and Wellbeing, South Dublin County Sport Partnership and DCU Sport.
