Pontoon plan for Limerick riverside activities

-

An allocation of €25,000 from Limerick City and County Council to the Ferrybridge Watersports Pontoon Club has been welcomed by local Fine Gael councillor Daniel Butler.

The club, which was established to promote the safe use of the River Maigue for recreation and leisure activities, is planning to build, locate and maintain a floating pontoon for safe access to the river.

The pontoon, located adjacent to De Bucket Bar and Restaurant in Kildimo, will be made available to local clubs, including fishing, Gandelow rowing, kayaking, bird watching, open water swimming, canoeing, and marine tourism.

“I have always spoke about the need to encourage use of the natural resources in the area, particularly along the Shannon riverbank around Clarina and Ballybrown,” Cllr Butler said.
