Grant support for two trailblazing Limerick social enterprises

St Gabriel's Orthotics has been awarded grants and business supports from Rethink Ireland's Step-Up fund.

TWO trailblazing social enterprises in Limerick have been awarded grants and business supports to accelerate change under Rethink Ireland’s €700,000 Step-Up fund.

The Urban Co-Op in Limerick city and St Gabriel’s Orthotics are among five social enterprises awarded grants under the fund.

St Gabriel’s Orthotics is a health initiative providing affordable orthotics to children and adults with physical disabilities to improve their participation and quality of life in Limerick.

The service can help young children and adults who are coping with painful conditions, making movement and day-to-day activities possible.

The Urban Co-op is a city initiative, working in response to the displacement of nourishing food, reduced food awareness, security and increasing passive consumption in the disadvantaged areas of Limerick city.

The Co-op operates a community grocery, a wellness hub, and an education space from its premises in the city.

The Step-up fund focuses on mid-level social enterprises operating successfully to provide vital services in communities across Ireland. Successful applicants receive a combination of cash grants and business supports to further expand their organisations.
It focuses on elevated funding for social enterprises at the next stage and aims to directly impact the social enterprise ecosystem in Ireland, supporting and expanding this vital sector to drive change.
