A UNINSURED driver crashed his car into a wall just seven days after his licence was restored following a ban that had him off the road.
Before Kilmallock District Court, Jake Rainsford (23), with an address in Murroe, pleaded guilty to driving without insurance at Glenstal, Murroe, on June 26 last.
Judge Patricia Harney heard that Rainsford was taken from the scene by ambulance. There was no other vehicle involved.
Inspector Gearoid Thompson told the court that Rainsford has six previous court convictions for public order offences, dangerous driving and driving without insurance.
He said that on the day the accident happened, Rainsford had been back on the road for just seven days having been banned on the previous driving offence.
Judge Harney said he was “lucky to be alive.” She banned him from driving for three years and fined him €1,000.
