GARDAÍ are questioning a man in connection with an alleged knife attack in Limerick city this afternoon.
It follows the posting of a video on social media channels of an altercation between two men on Upper Henry Street in Limerick City.
The footage shows one of the men who appears to be armed with a knife which he swings in the direction of the other man who kicks out at him.
One of the men puts his hands up to his face after the other man swings an implement in his direction.
An accompanying video shows Upper Henry Street cordoned off as a detective and uniformed Gardai arresting a man after he leaves a building with his hands above his head.
A Garda spokesman said: “Gardaí investigating an assault that took place on Henry Street at approximately 1:30pm this afternoon have arrested a man in his 30s.”
“The arrested man is being questioned under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Henry Street Garda station.
“Medical treatment was not sought by the injured party at the scene,” said the Garda spokesman.
Investigations are ongoing.
