GERI Maye is an interesting addition to the backroom team of Limerick Ladies Football for 2023.
The one-time RTÉ television presenter is the team’s Sports Psychologist for the new season, which started with a runaway league win over Kilkenny in Dunmore on Sunday.
Ms Maye has a masters degree from the University of Limerick, and specialises in Sports and Performance Psychology.
Her biography on social media platform Linkedin states: “She truly cares for the psychological and overall health of all athletes, teams and performing artists. Research has led Geri to study athletes who suffer under pressure, despite their innate talent, training and skills. These are athletes who can choke (paradoxical performance) in competitive environments. This can be experienced in all areas of performance.
“Reaching an athletes’/performers potential is one of Geri’s core goals. Clarity, care and resources/tools are offered to athletes during her sessions, in order to progress to the highest level in sport, in performance and in life.”
Limerick are under the management of Graham Shine, while Róisín Ambrose of Old Mill is captain.
On Sunday, Shine’s side breezed past The Cats, 4-13 to 0-2, with a brace of goals each from Ballylanders pair Cathy Mee and Andrea O’Sullivan.
