Learners share views at National FET Learner Forum

The National FET Learner Forum Regional Meeting Limerick & Clare ETB.

THIS past Tuesday, 77 learners from Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board’s (LCETB) College of FET convened at a regional meeting of the National Further Education and Training (FET) Learner Forum.
Learners met to share their experiences in further education and training and offer their opinions on how to improve further education and training provision and support services to ensure they were meeting learners’ needs.
The meeting, held at the Castletroy Park Hotel, involved learners from a variety of FET courses offered by LCETB’s College of FET.
At the event, learners shared issues affecting their ability to learn – such as the unreliability or lack of local public transport. They also highlighted the good work they saw being done, with one commenting: “I am a student here for nearly four years and have seen and availed of improvements on a yearly basis. Even through COVID-19. Keep up the great work, it’s hugely appreciated”.
Speaking at the forum, Triona Lynch, FET Manager of LCETB, said: “Today’s forum will allow us to gather valuable feedback that will be used to strengthen our policies and implement changes that are recommended. This is about growing together and being the best that we can be.”
