SIMON Zebo has been ruled-out of the Munster team for Sunday’s Heineken Cup Championship opener with Toulouse at Thomond Park, kick-off 3.15pm.
In a squad update, Munster stated that the 32-year-old winger had “sustained a low-grade knee injury” in the weekend URC win at Edinburgh and has commenced rehabilitation with the medical department at the club’s Limerick base.
Worryingly, it added: “He will be unavailable for the coming weeks.” The fear is that Zebo, who during his two stints with us has made over 160 appearances for the province, could be out of action until the New Year.
In the wake of a groin injury picked up when winning his 100th Ireland cap against South Africa last month, Conor Murray has returned the fold and is in contention for a starting place at the weekend, while Mike Haley will only return to full training later in the week and is doubtful to feature in the Toulouse game.
Continuing to rehab: Stephen Archer (ankle), Tom Ahern (shoulder), RG Snyman (knee), Fineen Wycherley (shoulder), Paddy Kelly (head), Jack Daly (knee), Jack O’Sullivan (knee), Andrew Conway (knee), Keynan Knox (knee).
Tickets are still available for Sunday’s game, priced from €25, with family deals available at €50.
Munster are at Northampton in the same competition on Sunday week.
