LIMERICK City and County Council has been asked to provide a progress report on the proposed new distributor road linking the Golf Links Road with the Kilbane Roundabout on the Groody Road in Limerick City.
The request came from local Fianna Fáil councillor Joe Pond who said that the construction of this new link road is urgent given that the new secondary school will open next September to serve the wider Castletroy catchment area.
He was informed at this month’s Metropolitan District meeting that the options report for Golf Links Road has been reviewed by the National Transport Authority (NTA) and a preferred route has been selected.
“The Council’s consultants are progressing with preliminary design and environmental assessments ahead of submission to An Bord Pleanála,” said Director of Transport Brian Kennedy.
