385 Ukrainian pupils enrolled in Limerick schools

LATEST figures from the Department of Education show that as of last Tuesday, November 1, there were 385 pupils from Ukraine enrolled in schools across Limerick City and County.

The Limerick total, which is made up of 238 pupils in primary and 147 in secondary schools, is less than half the number of Ukrainian pupils enrolled in Clare where there were 514 children in primary and 312 in secondary schools throughout the county.

On a national basis, 12,544 Ukrainian pupils have been enrolled in schools across Ireland – 7,948 in primary schools and 4,596 in post-primary schools.

To assist with the transition of Ukrainian refugees and their families in to Irish schools, Regional Education and Language Teams (REALT) are operated by the 16 regional education and training boards and staffed by education support personnel.

These teams are ensuring that clear, accessible information flows are in place between schools, local education support services and national support structures in relation to people arriving from Ukraine.
