Tough break for dual star Josh Ryan

Josh Ryan is expected to be out of action for several months.

TALENTED Josh Ryan of Doon is recovering from a serious leg break suffered during Sunday’s Limerick Senior Hurling Championship semi-final against Kilmallock in awful weather conditions in Bruff.

Ryan, a star with the Limerick side which reached this Summer’s Munster Senior Football Final with eventual All-Ireland winners Kerry in Killarney’s Fitzgerald Stadium, broke his tibia in the early stages of his team’s subsequent defeat.

It’s anticipated that he will be out of action for several months.

Meanwhile on the colleges front, Ardscoil Rís are through to the Dean Ryan Cup Final. It follows a hugely impressive 2-30 to 1-15 semi-final defeat of St. Colman’s of Fermoy at Fitzgerald Park, Kilmallock.

The winners had several stars, chief amongst them the Adare pair of Darragh Gleeson and Patrick Kearney, who between them contributed a whopping 2-19. Gleeson was unerring from frees and chipped-in with 14 points, while Kearney had a keen eye for goals, hitting a brace.
