LIMERICK’S top twelve pups have been chosen by public vote as the second round of Petmania’s hugely popular ‘Puppy of the Year’ competition gets under way.
The Petmania stores in the Eastpoint and Jetlands retail centres hosted rosette presentation ceremonies last weekend and the county finalists, six from each store, will now compete for a place in the national final later this month.
Voting to select the Limerick representative remains open, both online at www.petmania.ie and in-store at either of the Limerick outlets until tomorrow (Thursday).
More than 40,000 people across the country had their say during the first round of the competition and, with over 1,700 pawfect puppies in contention across the country, selecting the top dogs was not an easy decision.
Emily Miller of Petmania said last Saturday’s rosette presentation was extra special as it marked the first in-store event in three years.
“We were delighted to meet entrants from competitions past and present – including some of our superstar past winners.
“As the competition heats up, we encourage everyone in Limerick to have their say by logging onto our website, or visiting either Petmania Eastpoint, or Petmania Jetlands, to vote for their favourite pooch.”
Competing for a place in the national final from Petmania Eastpoint are Dolly, a Cross Breed who is one year old; Millie, a Miniature Dachshund who is five months old; Hippo, a Miniature Schnauzer who is four months old; Dusty, a Goldendoodle who is four months old; Buddy, a Cross Breed who is one year old and Oz, a Bearded Collie who is four months old.
The contestants from Petmania Jetlands are Cooper, a Cockapoo who is five months old; Oslo, a Belgian Malinois who is ten months old; Kobe, a Boston Terrier who is six months old; Beag, a Bernese Mountain Dog who is two months old; Romeo, a Jack Russell Terrier who is two months old and Luis, a British Bulldog who is four months old.
