MUNSTER have unveiled a new coaching ticket ahead of the upcoming Women’s Inter-provincial Championship.
The team will be headed-up by former Ireland star Niamh Briggs, who will joined by Matt Brown, Fiona Hayes, and Mike Storey.
Briggs, a native of Waterford, is currently also engaged with UL Bohemian and as assistant coach with the international side.
Last season’s head coach Matt Brown was recently appointed to lead the Munster Pathway Development setup. Hayes is presently involved with Ballincollig in Cork, while former Munster prop Storey has been involved with the province at this level for the last few seasons.
“I’m hugely excited,” Briggs told MunsterRubgy.ie of her elevation.
“It’s the next step in my progression as a coach but I’m more excited with the fact that I get to work with a brilliant bunch of players again with some really good coaches so I’m very excited.”
Of last year’s Inter-pro success, she added: “That environment and the culture that Matt was growing was so good. It was a really enjoyable group to be a part of, and incredibly hard working and wanting to get better all the time. If they can bring that kind of attitude and work ethic again this year, it will stand us in good stead.”
