PASSENGERS who use the Limerick to Nenagh and Ballybrophy train service will get an early Christmas present from Iarnród Éireann, who have announced they will cut the journey time by 15 minutes from December 11.
The proposal is part of a draft new timetable published last week for public consultation and the improved journey time is the result of a €6 million track renewal project on the line.
The company also reminds customers on the route that the final phase of track works runs until Sunday, November 20.
During this time, bus transfers will be in operation on all services on the route.
The company has published details of the proposed schedule and has invited the public to submit feedback in advance of the finalisation of the new timetable.
The consultation survey, which is open until Sunday, October 2, along with full draft timetables, is available on the Irish Rail website.
