GARDAÍ have stood down the missing persons appeal for a 33 year-old Limerick City man following the discovery of a man’s body in the Ballybunion area earlier today.
33 year-old Donal Kennedy from Caherdavin was on a night out with a group of friends attending Listowel Races when he went missing in Ballybunion last Saturday night.
One of the group with Mr Kennedy on Saturday night, told Radio Kerry that his disappearance was completely out of character.
He said that Mr Kennedy had epilepsy and may have hit his head in a fall while making his way back to the apartment where he was staying.
In a statement issued this evening, a Garda spokesman said that “following the discovery of a body of a male in the Ballybunion area today, the missing person appeal for Donal Kennedy has been stood down.
“No further information is available at this time.
“An Garda Síochána would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance with this matter,” the statement concluded.
