COVID-19 was a daunting experience for most Limerick businesses and community organisations, but for the Caherconlish/Caherline Millennium Centre it was only one in a series of misfortunes.
For no sooner had the recovery from Covid started last September than the reception area of the centre was destroyed by fire.
This resulted in an enforced eight month closure of the centre which facilitates the educational, training, employment, welfare, health, social, cultural and recreational needs of the local community.
With the building now refurbished and fully reopened, the Caherconlish/Caherline Community Council, which operates the centre as a community based not-for-profit company, has decided to avail of the opportunity to showcase its potential through a special community engagement event.
This will take the form of an EXPO Community Day on Sunday, September 11 when a range of activities will be staged for local businesses and community groups.
Community Council Assistant Secretary Mike Walsh said that local businesses are being invited to showcase their services and explain what their business is all about.
“Every local household will receive an information leaflet over the coming weeks announcing the event and we hope to see many of them come through the doors of the Millennium Centre on the day.
“We are also using the event to engage with the community through a community engagement process and a survey that kicks off at the EXPO which runs from 2 to 5pm on September 11.
