1,500 Ukrainian refugees arrived in Limerick so far

ALMOST 1,500 refugees fleeing the war in Ukraineย have currently taken up residenceย in Limerick city and county since the beginning of the conflict in their home country.

CSO figures compiled in July show that, across Ireland, more than 43,000 refugees coming from Ukraine have made contact with the Department of Social Protection.

As of July 10, there were 1,465 refugees from Ukrainian recorded as living in Limerick.

The highest population of refugees in the city and countyย is in Limerick City West with 468 people, while 421 were living in Limerick City North and 375 in Limerick City East.

Some 130 were recorded as living in the Adare-Rathkeale local electoral area, with 71 in Cappamore-Kilmallock.

There were 168 Ukrainian children enrolled in Limerick primary schools, and 72 in secondary schools.
