IT’S a tough job but somebody has to do it. The judges in the Bar of the Year Awards have travelled the length and breath of the country supping pints and collating cocktails to find the best bars and they were mightily impressed with Limerick’s hospitality.
No less than ten Limerick establishments have been shortlisted for awards in categories ranging from Bar Food of the Year to Best Bar to Watch the Match.
Among those nominated are Mother Mac’s Public House, The Tack Room at Adare Manor, 101 Limerick, Dolan’s, Vincenzo’s Bar and Grill, The Locke, The Savoy Bar, House, Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel, River Bar and Restaurant at the Strand Hotel.
From over 500 entries, the judges have whittled down the shortlist to 176 outstanding bars across the country. Now in their 17th year, the awards celebrate all that is great about Irish pubs, clubs and bars, showcasing the high standards of the Irish Licensed Trade.
All shortlisted premises are eligible also for the Dingle Gin People’s Choice Awards, voted for by the public. Voting will be carried out provincially in Dublin, Leinster, Munster, Connacht/Ulster with the winners of each province announced on the night.
The winners of all categories will be revealed at a gala awards ceremony on August 22 in the Clayton Hotel Burlington Road, Dublin and will be hosted by Alan Shortt.
