A €3 million investment in Patrickswell over the coming months has been welcomed by local Fine Gael councillor Dan McSweeney.
Work on Patrickswell Community Centre is set to commence over the coming weeks, which will see in the region of €1.5m invested in a Community Resource Centre, while the Town and Village Renewal Scheme is due to get underway before the end of the year.
“This investment in our Community Resource Centre is due to commence in the first week of August, with the hope is that it will be completed within 12 months. It is also anticipated that the second phase of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme will go to tender in early August with the hope to have contractors on the ground in October,” Cllr McSweeney told the Limerick Post.
“Both of these projects will see significant Government investment and investment from Limerick City and County Council in Patrickswell, which we have never seen before. I truly believe this will transform the village of Patrickswell over the next 12 month,” he added.
According to the City West representative, the second phase of the Town and Village Renewal Scheme will see significant investment on Patrickswell’s Main Street.
“This will enhance the overall village. Works will include the paving of all footpaths on the remainder of the street, the installation of new benches and bins. Limerick City and County Council have also identified a litter blackspot which will see the installation of a solar compactable bin in this are,” he explained.
“Our much-needed Community Resource Centre is finally due to become a reality. This is a project the people of Patrickswell strived to achieve over the last 20 years and it is within arm’s length now.”
