Limerick manager John Kiely has heaped praise on All-Ireland semi-final opponents Galway ahead of their much anticipated clash at Croke Park on Sunday.
The Galbally man says that Limerick will have to match Henry Shefflin’s side in every aspect of the game if they are to reach a third consecutive All-Ireland Final and a fourth in five years.
They are a great side. Very skilful. Really good ball players. They pass the ball very well. The pass the ball accurately. They tackle in numbers, they tackle in swarms and will put a lot of pressure on you when you’re on the ball.
That’s the challenge for us. We have got to survive within that environment. We have got to be able to thrive in that environment. We have got to be able to do what we want to do on the ball and we have got to be able to win the ball in that environment.
That’s going to take a huge, huge effort on our part. We are well aware of that and we understand that. That’s the challenge and that’s what we are really looking to doing.
The Limerick boss also added that he wouldn’t be focusing just on Galway’s recent displays but more so as a whole over recent seasons.
The Tribesmen reached the last four after a one-point win over Cork in the quarter-final and Kiely feels that Limerick have work to do to reach Galway’s accuracy in front of goal in particular.
There are some super forwards on both sides as well. You saw the quality of scores they got, from the sideline and from the endline, way out the field.
Their shooting is really, really accurate and that’s something for us to aim towards. Ours wouldn’t be on the same par as theirs in recent weeks. They have set the bar very high there.
