Vice captain Roisin Upton and fellow Catholic Institute teammate Naomi Carroll will represent Ireland in next month’s World Cup in the Netherlands and Spain after being named in Sean Dancer’s squad.
Five new faces have been given the call up by dancer while the squad also contains five players that reached the World Cup Final in 2018.
“The team are excited about our progress and the opportunities that lie ahead over the next month, and know that anything is possible at a World Cup,” Dancer said of the selection.
“Our entire group, players and staff have been working extremely hard over the last month, on the basics that a new group has to do. This has been a tough but a very enjoyable period.”

Ireland have the unenviable task of facing world number 1 side the Netherlands first up before games against Chile and Germany. First placed team in the group will reach the quarter-finals, while second and third will play an extra game in a bid to reach that stage.
