GALWAY trio The Raines have a Number One hit in the Singer/Songwriter charts with their latest single ‘Another Lover’. Irish radio has got behind the folk/Americana group. The Raines have spent weeks on the RTÉ Radio 1 Recommends Playlist and enjoyed support from Galway Bay FM, Clare FM and Southeast Radio and more for the four singles released so far in the lead up to an announcement on their debut album,
The Raines line-up is Ruth Dillon (vocals, guitar, ukulele) who has toured and recorded with the legendary vocalist Dolores Keane, is a former member of The Molly Hicks, and has three solo albums of her own.
Juliana Erkkonen (fiddle and vocals) has been at the forefront of the Americana musical scene in Ireland and has released seven albums with a diverse range of acts.
Yvonne Tiernan (vocals/ukulele) has toured as lead singer with The Chieftains and happens to be married to comic legend – Tommy Tiernan.
‘Another Lover’ is another fine example of what is fast becoming the recognisable sound of The Raines soaring vocal harmonies and sweeping strings, the Galway band effortlessly delivering the raw emotion of this universal theme in this original and heart breaking song.
Another Lover’ was recorded in various locations by Ivan O’Shea, Juliana Erkkonen and Cesar Benzoni featuring John O’Dwyer on Bass, Cesar Benzoni on Mandolin and Cormac Dunne on Drums. The award winning Producer Brian Masterson famous for his work with The Chieftains, Van Morrison, Willie Nelson and The Bothy Band, to name just a few mixed and mastered the track.
Speaking of their forthcoming Irish tour, Yvonne Tiernan says “We are thrilled to have kicked off our first Irish tour in Whelans, Dublin and now taking the band on the road to play live around the country. The part we love most about being in The Raines, is playing our music to a live audience”.
