MINISTER of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine Martin Heydon visited the University of Limerick last Monday when the focus was on sustainability.
Minister Heydon was a guest of Department of Biological Sciences at UL’s Faculty of Science and Engineering where there was a major focus on research on sustainable energy, the environment and food.

He held discussions on the challenges of achieving a sustainable society with Professor Maurice Collins of UL’s Bernal Institute, Dr Anne Marie Henihan, director of the Dairy Processing Technology Centre and Professor Norelee Kennedy, UL’s Vice President for Research regarding the challenges society faces.
“We welcome the opportunity to showcase to Minister Haydon and the Department of Agriculture Food and Marine, the excellent research underway at UL which is addressing key challenges for a sustainable society across areas of energy, environment and food,” Professor Kennedy said.
