LIMERICK Choral Union (LCU) is delighted to return to University Concert Hall, Limerick at 8pm on Saturday May 14 to commemorate all those we have lost during a time of turmoil and grief, and to celebrate their lives with a performance of Faure’s ‘Requiem’, which is dominated by a very human feeling of faith in eternal rest and Beethoven’s direct and very emotional ‘Mass in C’.
LCU is an oratorio, community choir based in the heart of Limerick City. Our aim is to make choral singing enjoyable and rewarding for the singers and audience alike. With its impending celebration of 60 years of singing in 2024, LCU has maintained its endeavours to encourage new talents into the choir and to continue to perform the best and most exciting choral works to its audiences.
The choir consists of more than 100 voices from Limerick and neighbouring counties. Under the baton of Musical Director, Malcolm Green, LCU performs two major concerts per year at University Concert Hall, Limerick and regularly performs at charity events and many other concerts and occasions.
Families have grown up with the choir and it has been a tradition for many members to join along with their mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands and wives. It is this sense of belonging, pride and accomplishment that the choir continues to flourish.
Most of LCU’s members have spent many enjoyable years with the choir, but there is always room for new and inspiring members who wish to join, sing and learn with a very welcoming, established community choir.
Soloists on the evening are Roisin Walsh Soprano, Sarah Ellen Murphy Alto, Conor Prendiville Tenor and David Howes Bass.
