THE pair were both chosen after instrumental performances in Limerick’s first defeat of Clare in 13 years.
Limerick duo Brian Fanning and Iain Corbett have both been selected on the GAA.ie Team of the Week after helping the Treaty side past Clare and into the Munster semi-final.
Limerick needed penalties to overcome the Banner in Ennis, the first of its kind in the senior championship.
Flying up from full back, Brian Fanning scored a stunning solo goal to give Limerick a three point lead. But with the sides level at full time and extra-time, penalties were needed to decide the contest.
Iain Corbett, who was named in the Sunday Game Team of the League, confidently stepped up for Limerick’s first penalty, which he nailed to set out the stall for Billy Lee’s men.
The duo represent Limerick, who could have had a number of players selected as they saw off Clare for the first time since 2009, with five Munster championship losses in the meantime.
The team of the week is dominated by Derry men as they beat defending All-Ireland and Ulster champions Tyrone in the provincial quarter-finals. The Oak Leaf county have five players on the team.
Kildare have three after their dismantling of Louth while Dublin duo Brian Fenton and Con O’Callaghan are both chosen.
Meath also have a pair chosen while Jack McCarron represents Monaghan.
