Multiple Feis Ceoil awards for Limerick School of Music students

THE Limerick School of Music (LSOM) students won multiple awards in different categories at the prestigious music competition, Feis Ceoil in Dublin on Wednesday. 

The LSOM Trumpet Quartet won the Feis Ceoil Junior Brass Ensemble competition. The winning students were Caspar Roewer, Luke O’Donovan, Alana Griffin, and Aisling Keogh. They won this competition under the tutelage of their teacher, Liam Daly.

Josh Sheehan won gold in the Classical Guitar under-18 competition, under the tutelage of John O’Shea, while brothers George and Adrian Banarie finished 2nd in the Chamber Music Cup on piano and guitar.

Separately, both brothers won silver medals. Adrian won silver in the Guitar under-15 competition, and George won silver in the Piano under-17 competition.

Silver medals were also awarded to Marcus Murphy in the under-15 Junior Solo Strings, and Alana Griffin in the Junior Trumpet.

”We are immensely proud of these and all our many students who won prizes in Feis Maitiu in Cork recently and to those who have been successful in their auditions for the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland and the Irish Youth Wind Ensemble;” said Cecilia Madden, Deputy Principal of Limerick School of Music.

LSOM is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. They will be holding a gala concert at the University Concert Hall on 22 May.

Past students and celebrated composers will be making special appearances at the concert, including Irish composers Bill Whelan and Patrick Cassidy.
