LIMERICK City and Countyย Council has been asked to carry out a capacity audit of Loughmore Canal in Raheen and to examine the possibility of installing a retaining wallย around the culvert pipe at the canal.

At this month’s Metropolitan District meeting,ย Sinn Fรฉin councillor Sharon Benson was told by Director of Service Nuala Gallagher that monitoring works are currently ongoing at Loughmore Canal.

“We have undertaken weekly sampling at three locations since February 1, and this is programmed to continue for a further two weeks.

“Following examination of all sampling results and our ongoing inspections, we will review the requirement of a capacity audit at this location,” Msย Gallagher explained.
