LIMERICK City and County Council has been asked to carry out a capacity audit of Loughmore Canal in Raheen and to examine the possibility of installing a retaining wall around the culvert pipe at the canal.
At this month’s Metropolitan District meeting, Sinn Féin councillor Sharon Benson was told by Director of Service Nuala Gallagher that monitoring works are currently ongoing at Loughmore Canal.
“We have undertaken weekly sampling at three locations since February 1, and this is programmed to continue for a further two weeks.
“Following examination of all sampling results and our ongoing inspections, we will review the requirement of a capacity audit at this location,” Ms Gallagher explained.
