LIMERICK got back to winning ways this weekend beating Wicklow in a game that was testament to the Treaty Men’s character.
The win puts Limerick back on the road to promotion in a race with as they made it three wins from four after defeat to Louth last weekend.
Billy Lee’s side left Wicklow with the victory for the second successive year, this time claiming a 1-13 to 1-9 win.
Wicklow started the game extremely well and raced into a three point lead. After a goal from Josh Ryan and a further few scores from frees Limerick found themselves at a 1-8 to 1-3 lead at half-time.
The Shannonsider were able to keep the scoreboard ticking over for the rest of the game sealing the victory and reestablishing their place in the promotion race.
After the game, Lee spoke in total awe of his team,
“Words can’t describe what happened out there today, we spoke about the character in the dressing room before the game and I’ve kind of grown up with these guys long before they realized themselves the character they had or maybe our supporters, as I always mention in previous interviews about their character.
“Words don’t describe how proud I am of them, it’s one of the most satisfying best wins I’ve ever been involved with.
“Just phenomenal, absolutely phenomenal.”
