GRAHAM Shine’s side made it two from two in the League.
The Limerick Ladies footballers booked their place in the knockout stages of the National League with a 3-4 to 1-6 win over Offaly on Sunday afternoon in Martinstown.
In difficult conditions, a brace of quickfire goals in the final ten minutes were the difference as Limerick made it two from two.
Such were the conditions, the sides exchanged just one score each in the first quarter, Catriona Davis getting on the scoresheet for Limerick.
The scores came more frequently in the second quarter, as Offaly held a 0-4 to 0-3 lead approaching the half.
But a goal from Davis was quickly followed by a point from Cathy Mee as Limerick held a three point cushion at the interval.
Limerick didn’t score in the third quarter as Offaly retook the lead as Shine’s side were also reduced to 14 with Mairead Kavanagh sent to the sin bin.
But even in their numerical disadvantage, the home side were able to find the crucial scores as Iris Kenneally and Mee raised green flags within minutes of each other.
That moved Limerick five clear and while Offaly had the final score of the day, they couldn’t find a needed goal as Limerick held on for the win and a place in the semi-finals.
