Further relaxation of visitor restrictions at Limerick maternity hospital

UL Hospitals Group Director of Midwifery Eileen Ronan

THERE will be a further relaxation of visitor restrictions at University Maternity Hospital Limerick (UMHL) from tomorrow.

The new guidelines mean that nominated support partners will be able to attend their partner’s first appointment in the antenatal clinic at UMHL.

Director of Midwifery Eileen Ronan said the latest guidelines enabled a further relaxation of pandemic-related restrictions on access that have impacted so significantly on patients, their support partners and loved ones.

The updated guidance also enhances partner access to the hospital’s ultrasound department, where they will be able to attend for the growth scan at 32 to 34 weeks, in addition to the 12-week dating scan and 22 to 24 week anomaly scan permitted currently.

The requirement for visitors and nominated support partners to have their temperature checked at the entrance to the hospital is being removed.

Nominated support partners will be allowed access to a number of areas and appointments, regardless of vaccination status, once a Covid-19 questionnaire has been completed prior to accessing the hospital.
