Six Nations respond to South African speculation

EARLIER in the week rumours began to spread of South Africa joining the Six Nations displacing Italy with the Italians currently on a 34 match losing streak in the Six Nations.

The Six Nations have come out and made a statement dismissing any talks of a reform to the competition in terms of replacing teams, amidst the rumours that South Africa will replace Italy following their lengthy losing streak.

“Six Nations Rugby, comprising the Six Unions and Federations and CVC, wish to confirm that they are not entertaining any discussion nor developing any plans to add or replace any participating Union. All its energy is focused on the current strategic discussions regarding the July and November international windows and structure of the global season, and to ensure a positive outcome for the development of the game.”
