UL beat DCU last night in the Electric Ireland Sigerson Cup semi final, booking them a spot in next weekโs decider.
Limerick beat DCU 0-14 to 0-11 in a performance that would excite the UL fans to advance to a first Sigerson Cup final in 25 years, and just their second ever.
Everything the Limerick college tried seemed to work out in their favour as they produced some fantastic pieces of play.
David Clifford showed his experience in games like these hauling five points and crafting many more. The Limerick side were constantly in the lead and were able to expertly break down the Dublin college in Carlow.
Crucial scores from Clifford, Emmet McMahon and Paul Towey swayed the game in ULโs favor.
The team is managed by Limerick native Declan Brouder who praised the character of his side in reaching the final.
โWeโve got great character in this group, the boys just will not give in. We have got a lot of knocks along the way, weโve picked up a lot of injuries but we never used it as a crutch. We have just had this mantra where itโs the next man up and I thought the boys showed that in spades tonight.
Everybody just takes their chance when they get it. Look weโre an honest bunch, a hardworking bunch, weโre exciting when we have the ball and weโre just living in the moment.
We have kept it simple. Weโve not complicated things just kept it simple.โ
Brouder speaks with the same mentality as his team plays, juxtaposing their immense skills with a ferocity and work rate in defence.
And speaking on the final, the Limerick native is preparing himself for the biggest test yet against NUIG.
โNUIG have been absolutely brilliant in the last couple of years, Maurice Sheridan their manager knows what heโs at.
The club is in a great place and weโre absolutely delighted.โ
