LIMERICK City and County Council is calling on groups, clubs, organisations, associations and companies of all shapes and sizes to sign up and become involved in this year’s St Patrick’s Day Parade.
While there has been a strong level of local interest since it was confirmed that the parade would go ahead this year, the council is looking for more participants for what will be the city’s first St Patrick’s Festival since 2019.
The Limerick parade is known for its community participation every year and ranks as one of the largest regional parades in the country, with tens of thousands of people watching and cheering on the participants.
Council Arts Officer Pippa Little said the theme of this year’s parade and festival, Belonging and Identity, lends itself to many different and innovative interpretations.
“Our parade in the years before the Covid restrictions were put in place had become a huge colourful spectacle and we are looking for the same this year.”
“We are calling on groups from across the city and county, and further afield if they wish, to sign up and be part of this year’s parade,” she added.
