ARDSCOIL Rís manager Niall Moran looks ahead to their Harty Cup Final against St. Josephs Tulla
Ardscoil Rís are busy preparing for this Saturday’s Harty Cup final where the TUS Gaelic Grounds will play host to their clash with St Joseph’s Tulla at 1pm.
The north Circular Road school qualified for the final with an awesome display over Thurles CBS as they put the Tipp school to the sword.
Manager Niall Moran rallied his team for the that game and what came before him on the pitch was nothing short of a masterclass. The Limerick side won by a score of 4-18 to 1-12 having led by as many eighteen points at the half.
However, Moran isn’t getting carried away with the performance,
“Remove the first quarter, there was 3-5 scored in the first quarter we scored 1-13 there after that, Thurles scored 1-11. When you put it into context of that it tells you where we realistically at.
“We know going forward there’s a lot of things that we didn’t execute to the best of our ability and we know that in Tulla we play a team that are the best team by a mile that we have played to date”.
Moran praised the the maturity of his squad but knows that the biggest challenge is yet to come with no one on either side having featured in a Harty Cup final.
Yet, Moran has huge experience of Harty Cup final day with Ardscoil having won each of the five finals they have contested since their break through in 2010.
Their opponents are appearing in their maiden decider but Moran says neither side will benefit from the occasion as he recalls the success of the school over the last decade.
“Both of us share one thing in common in that we’ve never lost a final, in their case that means they’ll play without fear, in our case it means we’ve to play without baggage.
“They were phenomenal days even though I was lucky enough to be involved with Derek, Liam, O’Grady and Jimmy here at LIT, that was just a magical moment. At the time we were in dreamland and I suppose we can kind of empathise where Tulla are at there now. Tulla will feel that tis is their first time and this is a whole new experience”.
Moran sends his team out for battle on Saturday the 5th of February at 1pm.
