GARDAÍ stopped a helicopter as it was being transported through a County Limerick village yesterday.
Photographs of the red and white two-seater helicopter loaded on a recovery truck, outside Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick City, were later shared on social media.
The helicopter, a RotorWay Exec 162F, was on a transporter truck as it travelled through Caherconlish.
Gardai stopped the truck on High Street in the village, about 15km from Limerick City, and subsequently brought it, along with the helicopter, a motorcycle, a 4×4 vehicle and a trailer, to a Garda Station in Limerick City.
The truck driver was subsequently released. The helicopter and other vehicles were returned to him.
A Garda spokesman confirmed that a man in his 40s, who was driving a transporter truck in Caherconlish, County Limerick on January 25, was taken to Mayorstone Garda Station.
“The man and the vehicles were released following a search”.
The spokesman said that no other information was available.
