Man rescued from river in critical condition

A MAN who was rescued from the River Shannon in Limerick City yesterday morning, remains in a serious condition in University Hospital Limerick (UHL).

Three units from the Limerick Fire and Rescue Service were dispatched to Shannon Bridge off the Condell Road at 10.16am following reports that a man was seen in the river. Gardaí and ambulance personnel also attended the scene.

The man, who is understood to be in his late 60s or early 70s, was taken from the water by the FireSwift rescue boat and taken to UHL where he was initially diagnosed as being in a “critical condition”.
