LIMERICK City and County Council has been asked to include a time capsule as part of the Opera Site Development and to allow local people to decide on its contents.
The call came from Sinn Féin councillor John Costelloe who said that the Opera Centre would be one of the most significant developments in the history of the city and he felt that a time capsule would be an interesting memento for future generations.
Director of Service, Vincent Murray said that the Council and Limerick Twenty Thirty welcomed the proposal for a time capsule for the inclusion on the Opera project site.
He said that a public event would be organised to allow people to decide on the contents.
“The time capsule can be situated in either the new public library or an equivalent public area within the development,” he added.
