Samaritans thank all who lit up for Longest Night

-

THE Samaritans in Limerick have expressed their thanks to all organisations and individuals who supported Samaritans Longest Night by lighting buildings in green on December 21.

Landmarks across the country were lit up in green for the Winter Solstice, and to remind people that help and support was available from the Samaritans throughout the festive season, which can be a difficult time for many.
Catherine Slater, Director of the Limerick and Tipperary Samaritans branch said: “The response was very positive and helped spread the message that we’re here for everyone during the long, dark winter nights. Now that the days are getting longer, I would like to remind everyone we are still here, 24/7, call free on 116 123.

In Limerick, the Samaritans base on Barrington Street, Bishop’s Palace, St Mary’s Cathedral, King John’s Castle, TUS, City Hall, and a number of businesses and hotels were among the many buildings that were lit up in green.
Dublin’s Convention Centre, Kilkenny Castle, The Rock of Cashel, Stormont buildings in Belfast, Cork’s City Hall, and the US Embassy were among more than 70 landmarks and buildings nationwide that took part in the initiative.

The Samaritans can be reached on freephone 116 123 or by email at [email protected].
