HAVING written, recorded and released two highly regarded albums during lockdown, John Steele is expecting to have another album ready this summer.
The Lucky One is a reflective song and the second track from that as yet untitled forthcoming third solo album. Wrapped around the repeated line “Wasn’t I the lucky one,” the song is so deceptively simple that you feel anybody could do this, and therein lies this prolific songwriter’s gift, making it “look” easy.
John explains, “It’s a song about being thankful for the great people around you.”
As with all his releases, the track was recorded, mixed and produced by John in The Box Room.
Backing vocals are provided by long-time collaborators, Eamonn Hehir, Aileen Downes and Brian Birmingham, which I’m certain number among those great people that have inspired the song.
