THE courtyard at the University of Limerick was transformed into a real life Christmas Market when UL Student Life joined forces with Campus Life Services to channel the festive spirit on Wednesday and Thursday of last week.
With the recent spike in Covid 19 case numbers and emergence of a new variant of the virus, safety was a prime concern with UL Student Life and the university authorities carrying out extensive health and safety procedures.
The big turnout of students and staff had a wide range of choice with thirteen stalls featuring locally produced food, crafted bread, confectionary, crafts and jewellery.
To the sound of music provided by students, the Christmas tree was lit up and the courtyard boundary walls decorated as patrons were entertained by Santa’s grotto, stilt walkers, an oversized Grinch and a walking Christmas tree.
UL Student Life General Manager Martin Ryan said they were delighted to help students and staff celebrate together safely and bring an end to a very challenging year for everyone on a high note.
UL Student Life Marketing Coordinator Cathal McCarthy thanked everyone involved in hosting such a successful event including UL Student Life Staff, Campus Life Services, UL Building and Estates and the Market traders include Dough Mama Pizza, SOS Cookies, Anne Lloyd Catering, Whack Vintage, Virgo Silver jewellery, Casa Street Kitchen, Mrs Pebbles Pebble Art, UL Crafts Society, The Scholars Club and Our Daily Bread.
