A NEW extension for Crescent College Comprehensive has moved one step closer as the project has been approved to go to tender.

Minister for Education Norma Foley made the announcement this week that the development, which involves the construction of five new science labs and additional temporary accommodation, is to progress to the next stage.

Fianna Fáil TD for Limerick City Willie O’Dea welcomed the news, saying it was “a very important development” for the Dooradoyle school.

The proposed works consist of a single storey standalone extension to the east of the existing school comprising five specialist classrooms with associated prep and storage areas and ancillary accommodation, together with associated site works, including the reconfiguration of the existing carpark and construction access from the Dooradoyle road. Planning permission was granted for the proposed extension to the school late last year.
