THE Technological University of the Shannon: Midland Midwest conferred the first ever graduates of the Flexible Learning BA Early Childhood Education and Care course at the Conferring Ceremony in the TUS Gaelic Grounds last week.
Describing the graduates as a resilient and hard-working group, Ashling Sheehan Boyle, Programme Lead BA (Hons) Early Year Education and Care said, “These graduates overcame unprecedented obstacles to complete their course and graduate, not least of all by working on the frontline during a pandemic. They showed great resilience in making the change to online learning, while returning to work in the childcare sector during a pandemic. All the time they remained professional in their work, adaptable in their approach and committed to their studies.”
“The success of flexible learning for this sector is evident from the number of students returning to complete the level 8 course next year. The course which grew out of the undergraduate programmes in Thurles, Ennis and Moylish allows students to continue working while learning, with support also from Skillsnet. Students complete work placement as part of their working week,”she said.
