BOTH of Limerick’s universities have made the top 10 of The Sunday Times third level league table in its Good University Guide 2022, published on Sunday, November 14.
The University of Limerick (UL) climbed two places from last year into fourth place, however it recorded the highest of all the third level institutions in the Student Experience category.
UL graduates reported excellent job prospects, with an unemployment rate of just 2.5 per cent, and a progression rate of 91 per cent, meaning nine per cent of students drop out after their first year.
The region’s newest university, the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest, came in at joint ninth place with Waterford IT.
TUS reported a graduate unemployment rate of 6.75 per cent, and a progression rate of 87 per cent.

NUI Galway was named University of the Year, with Galway-Mayo as Institute of Technology of the Year, Munster Technological University as University of the Year for Covid Impact, and RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences as University of the Year for Student Engagement.
Trinity College Dublin topped the unique Sunday Times Third Level University Ranking based on its performance across eight key performance measures. These cover student engagement and entrance qualifications, given the heaviest weightings in the table, and also research income, graduate unemployment, degree outcomes, progression rates, student-staff ratio and the annual spend on facilities per student.
