THERE was huge disappointment for the Limerick District Schoolboys League Kennedy Cup squad on Sunday afternoon as they narrowly lost 0-1 to Cork at the Fairgreen in the quarter-final of the competition. Niall Byrnes side rued two penalty misses and despite being well on top for long periods, the talented side bowed out of the competition.
In the Limerick District League Premier Division, Pike Rovers scored another impressive 0-6 victory over Prospect Priory at Cals Park. Conor Layng (4), Colm Walsh-O’Loughlen and Steve McGann were on the scoresheet for Robbie Williams men who are showing no signs of stopping their assualt on the title this season.
Regional United picked up an expected 3-0 victory over basement side Geraldines at Dooradoyle with Willie Griffin’s goal putting Tom O’Connell’s side ahead at half-time. Further goals from Ewan O’Brien and Evan O’Connor put the home side into an unassailable lead.
Janesboro managed to put some breeding space between themselves and the relegation zone with a crushing 1-6 defeat of Kilmallock. Conor Madden, Bradley McNamamara, Dermot Hughes (x2) and Adam Costelloe scored for Daithi O’Donoghue’s side. Fairview Rangers enjoyed a comprehensive 9-3 victory over Hyde Rangers in the Munster Junior Cup on Friday night.
