KILDIMO Pallaskenry’s journey from the Junior B ranks to the senior championship was secured last night as they overcame Rathkeale in the Intermediate Championship final.
For the first time ever, the city club will operate in the senior championship next year with Peter Nash reflecting on an emotional result for the now dual club.
“I don’t even know what to say, I can’t even sum it it. It’s just a long hard road, last few championships we’re talking about year on year getting to finals and improving and trying to build.
The fact that everything has come together and everything has aligned so well, we’re absolutely blessed.”

“We are going up”
In 2014, Kildmo Pallaskenry were crowned Junior B Champions with a win over Ballyricken Bohermore. They followed that up by claiming Junior A honours with a win over Cappamore three years ago before completing their journey last night.
The result comes a little over twelve months since the hurlers made it to the senior ranks for the first time in 85 years with Nash highlighting a sense of ‘satisfaction’ in the club who are now one of two dual teams in the county.
“When you have lads around the you know that you can rely on no matter what, winning is a bonus, and when you win with those lads the feeling is indescribable.
“It’s just the feeling of pure satisfaction and the fact that you just didn’t let people down, you made promises to try and get people involved and trying to get people ticking away, it’s just the relief of not letting anyone down.
“We never expected anything like this in our wildest dreams and I cannot even manage to put words on it.”
And immediately after victory, Nash was visible in saying to his teammates, “this does not end here,” with the city side now looking forward to a Munster club championship campaign where they will meet the Clare champions at the start of December.
“Everybody there just puts in the work and it’s just such a positive environment. We’ve just gotten incredibly lucky, we’re lucky to have each other, we’re lucky to have stuck by each other and we got breaks at vital moments, across the last five years in everything we’ve played
“To be able to go and represent your club and your people and your colours on that stage is an absolute honour and a privilege, beyond anything we’ve done before”
