THE semi-finals of the Limerick Senior, Intermediate and Junior Camogie Championships will be played this Sunday.
In the Senior Championship, there is a repeat of last year’s final four ties with Killeedy facing Ahane and Newcastle West to meet Granagh Ballingarry. Defending champions Killeedy host Ahane who were last crowned champions in 2018. Killeedy won both of their group games against Granagh Ballingarry and Na Piarsaigh but failed to hit the net in either. Ahane lost out in their opener to NCW but have responded well with successive wins over Bruff and Crecora to move back into the final.
The other semi-final pairs Newcastle West with Granagh Ballingarry for the second successive year with Newcastle West coming out on top in last year’s clash. Newcastle West were crowned champions in 2019 and are looking for third final appearance in a row after falling to Killeedy last summer. They have been the standout team in this year’s championship with wins over Ahane, Bruff and Crecora to top their group. Granagh Ballingarry will be looking to get back to the final after last featuring in the decider in 2017, when they completed an incredible five in a row. They fell to Killeedy in their opener but bounced back with a win over Na Piarsaigh to seal their last four berth.
In the Intermediate Championship, last year’s runners up Cappamore are just one game from that stage as they host Ballyagran. Cappamore are yet to taste defeat this year against Ballyagran who beat Newcastle West and Killeedy but lost to Murroe Boher. Murroe will meet Monaleen in their semi-final after coming through their group with three successive wins. Their opponents Monaleen were beaten by Cappamore but regrouped with a pair of wins.
Adare host Mungret St Pauls in the Junior A Championship semi-finals while Patrickswell will travel to Galbally.
