KILDIMO Pallaskenry meet Rathkeale in the 2021 Limerick Intermediate Football final tonight in Mick Neville Park.
Kildimo Pallaskenry will be competing in the final for the first time ever, just seven years since they won the Junior B championship.
The growth in the club has seen them grow substantially over the past decade as they now lie just one game from dual senior status.
Commenting on the underage work, manager John Chawke commended everyone involved in the development of the club.
“There’s a good work going in at ground level at football and at hurling, maybe hurling more than football, but everything is going well. This year we’ve got dual players on that team as well, they’ve a lot of training and dedication that they’ve gotta give to the football and the hurling. It’s tough to do the both of them but there’s a lot of ground work going in at all ages.”
Outsiders in the semi-final, Kildimo Pallaskenry were full value for their win over St Senans who were champions in the grade just four years ago.
And according to the manager, it was sheer work rate that pulled them through.
“It was a great victory, the lads put in a colossal effort, I’d say it was one of our toughest games this year. We saw some serious work rates and you can see the results we got there… great to be in a county final for the first time ever.
On semi-final win over St. Senan’s
Captain Liam O’Sullivan echoed his managers words outlining the bond within the squad and the willingness to work for another. And not content with their journey so far, the wing back is “beaming” in anticipation of tonight’s decider.
“We take every game the same, we always work hard for each other and give 100%. Everygame has been a battle so far this year so we expect nothing less now against Rathkeale.
“From the start of this year, that’s what we’ve wanted and to get over the line it was just huge, all the boys were just absolutely beaming to be able to play in the county final.”
Kildimo Pallaskenry take on Rathkeale in the Limerick Intermediate Football Final in Mick Neville Park on Thursday October 28 at 7.30pm.
